Q - Can anyone attend board meetings?

A - Board meetings are open to any member of the Peninsula Women’s Network.  Typically, meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month.  Contact any board member or the webmaster for the next scheduled meeting.

 

Q - When are officers/board members elected?  When do they take office?  For how long?

A - Officers/board members are elected each May at our Annual Meeting with advance participation from the membership with on-line voting available.  Newly elected officials take office July of each year.  Most terms are limited to one year.  All of this information can by found in our by-laws available here on our website, together with descriptions of the positions available.

 

Q - What are Leads Groups?

A - Leads groups meet at different times for the purpose of networking and exchanging business leads.  Membership in a leads group is limited to one person per industry to prevent competition within the group.  If interested contact the leads group facilitator to find out if a slot is open.  You are welcome to visit any of our leads groups twice before joining a group.  click here for more information on leads groups 

 

Q - What is included for my membership dues?

A - Membership dues support the website, the production of a monthly newsletter and access to the directory of members.  Additionally, you will receive offers from fellow members for discounted products and services. 

 

Q - Why is there a charge to attend the evening program?

A - The evening program includes a meal and speaker or panel discussion.  The cost of the meal is covered by the admission price.  The Peninsula Womens Network is a non-profit organization and it is not our goal to make a profit on these events.  In addition to our traditional programs we will begin offering some dutch treat "socials" in 2012.

 

Q  Is this part of a national organization?

A - The Peninsula Womens Network was founded on the Virginia Peninsula in 1979 by four women.  There are other similar womens networks throughout the country.

 

Q - Is this a women only organization?

A - The Peninsula Womens Network is primarily a women's organization, however we have had male members in the past and our membership is not limited to women.

 

Q - What is the standing day and time for the monthly luncheons?

A - Monthly luncheons vary.  We try to offer a rotating schedule for Hampton, Newport News and Williamsburg each quarter for the convenience of our members and their guests.

 

Q - What is the standing day and time for the evening programs?

A - Typically, these meetings are held on the third Monday of every month from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  However, it is always best to check the website for the program details.  RSVP  and advance payment is required for most evening programs.

 

Q - How do I send a message to the membership using the PWN directory?  Are there rules on how I can/should use the directory?

A - See the Directory Guidelines and Quick Tutorial in the Members Only section of our website.

 

Q - Are there niche groups?  For example, technology sub-group networking, I would love to meet more people in my field and trade ideas or horror stories!

A - Currently, we do not have sub-groups.  It is easy to perform a "keyword" search in the directory to determine members in the same field.  Group messages can be sent to targeted groups at any time.  Also, an invitation to meet more regularly would not be against PWN Guidelines. 

 

Q - Is there a way to find someone that offers a certain service? 

A - There are advanced search capabilities in the directory.  You can search for someone by title, business name, zip code, first name, etc.  After logging into the website, click directory then advanced search.

 

Q - Can you help me start my own business?

A - Although the Peninsula Womens Network does not offer any professional services to our membership, our members find a wealth of advice from the many bankers, lawyers, business coaches, realtors, CPAs, entreprenuers, etc. who are also members.

Q - I m not receiving the emails any longer
